History and Background

The Annapurna Bhandar Scheme was launched by the Government of West Bengal on June 1, 2026, as a successor to the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to eligible women in West Bengal, offering a monthly stipend of ₹3,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts. The scheme targets women aged 25 to 60 years, who are permanent residents of West Bengal and meet specific eligibility criteria.

Eligibility and Application Process

To be eligible for the Annapurna Bhandar Scheme, applicants must:

  • Be women aged 25 to 60 years
  • Be permanent residents of West Bengal
  • Not be income taxpayers
  • Not be in permanent government employment, including teaching/non-teaching roles in aided institutions

Applicants can apply online or offline during the 90-day enrollment window. Required documents include:

  • Aadhaar card
  • Voter ID
  • Bank passbook
  • Ration card
  • Passport-size photographs

The official online portal is socialsecurity.wb.gov.in, where applicants can download a detailed Family Level Data Collection Form, complete it manually, scan and upload it along with documents. Offline submissions are accepted at block, municipal, or panchayat offices with door-to-door assistance promised.
